Sava River on a Raft
We woke to
rain. Still. We breakfasted looking out the window at the rain and kept
checking weather apps – still it would rain.
Whatever –
today’s entertainment works rain or shine.
At 10 we
were in a van and heading to the Sava River, longest river in Slovenia (we’re
really knocking off longest, highest and biggest aren’t we!).
Sadly, not many photos of the rafting but imagine a moderately fast flowing Sava (it’s
a ‘2’ in terms of rafting) – decked out in wet wetsuits, wet wetsuit booties,
bright red jackets and red helmets – you guessed it – rafting today.
And for the
next hour and twenty, we drifted and twisted and bounced down the river. Peer
pressure had us all jump off the raft and into the (pretty cold!) water, and
then try to walk around the buoyancy cylinders on the raft without holding on
(I fell in).
Oh, and from
the time we got out of the van at the river, until the end of the rafting, the
rain stopped – and started again as we drove back to Bled. The weather gods are
watching over us.
