Makarska - home again (kinda)

It's sweltering here.

I arrived yesterday morning - at the airport at 4 am (thanks Henri and Josette - above and beyond), landed in Split at 8 am, (new airport! Got lost trying to find the shuttle bus - thanks zracna luka for changing stuff) bus to Makarska at 10 am  and was picked up at the bus-stop which saved a walk up the hill with a much-too-heavy bag (thanks Annette).

I've been to the green market and bought salad stuff, tomatoes and mozzarella, prsut to eat with the melon that Annette put into the fridge - all my favourite foods in one hit, this oughta balance out the heavy meats and sauces I've been eating in France!

Just because  I can,  this morning I hoovered a strudl s marelicom (not sure of the spelling - should have had an apple one so that I could spell it) (it's an apricot strudel). You would love the snack-type food available 24/7 at the bakeries here.

I've been to the beach on Annette's bike (it's high - she has longer legs than I) and got just a smidgeon of colour to get rid of the bronzage du agricole - the farming 'singlet and shorts marks' from my week on the bike on the canal. And I've bought a new bikini, a Mature Woman's Bikini'.

I cycled back from the beach (Nugal) at 6:30 because that's what you can do here, and the beach was still pretty full. This year there are a lot more children at this little beach.

And now I have thoroughly enjoyed a can of Bazge - be totally surprised because this is beer, but like a shandy, and the flavour is elderflower.  I discovered it here a few years ago and just love it - I would never drink beer at home!

The party boat has just returned to the port, you can pretty much hear it everywhere in Makarska - same playlist as when I lived here in 2011 - Brown Girl in the Ring followed by YMCA etc, you've got the idea. Some things change, some don't. There are cash flow machines in the shops which wasn't a thing so many years ago. But the Pina Coladas at Bar Yeti are still great.

And now I'm going to make a salad for dinner!
