2nd home

So Dear Readers, (or maybe just mum and dad if that is all that is reading me) I'm back in Makarska! I decamped from my cave and sat in Mama Mia cafe, drank a coffee, ordered another coffee and passed the next two hours reading my new Kindle (thanks for the reckons Megan, totally worth it). I wanted to get my bags packed and out of my room before it rained again (yes, even in heaven it rains). I'd walked in the morning and got caught by a clap of thunder and a heavy downpour - I got back to my cave in three instalments after (a) sheltering in a church,

(b) sheltering under the eaves of a dive store and (c) sheltering in INA, the petrol station, with some pretty quick bursts of running in between.

Two hours on the ferry, 1 hr 20 on the bus and was met by my lovely friend Annette at the station.

It occurred to me on the ferry, that I hadn't actually had a conversation (asking for a coffee with milk isn't a conversation, even if I do so in Croatian) since I left home. Don't get me wrong, I'm not lonely when I'm travelling alone, but we didn't stop talking last night.

Internal clock being what it is, I was walking to the beach just before 7 - just in case the rowers were out (and they were). Such a joy, like little insects on the water, and some so young. And when I was coaching the children 10 years ago, there were initially two girls and now half of the cadets are girls.

I caught up with Branka and family this morning, more conversations, more coffee and suddenly it was mid afternoon. I'm surrounded by wonderful friends, so lucky.

My absolute joy is to go to the green market - now I have a slab of lubenica (watermelon which is deeply deeply red and sweet) prsut, pomodoro (tomatoes), feta and mozerella  - the makings of a fine meal. And the lady in the market recognised me and gave me a big hug - I Love this Place!

Couple of random photos - mmm Peugeot scoots for hire (I didn't - not yet) and that mountain peek,  I know

you are asking, and the answer is, yes, I did (have). When I was in the Planinara Klub. We climbed that mother. It's a long way. Yes, indeed.`
