Random Stuff
I've got some photos here which I haven't added to any of the blogs - I mentioned how good the laundry smells in Croatia and was going to have a chat about clothes lines but didn't get around to it. Not sure whether anyone has noticed my clothesline at home, but it is modelled on the ones attached to window sills and balconies in Europe. I didn't want, and didn't have the room to have a big rotating clothesline so I designed and dad helped me attach it to my terasa rail. I actually need to rethink it because the line has sagged a bit as the weight of the wet clothes has pulled the ends in on the uprights. Need an engineer. Anyone?
Anyway, here are some photos of washing lines in Makarska. Interesting to note that years ago, Dubrovnik opcina made a rule that you were not allowed to hang your clothes out over the little alleyways during the tourist season which is one of the reasons that, for me, Dubrovnik doesn't feel 'lived in'. The opcina in Split tried the same conversation but got the middle finger, so the Diocletian Palace feels alive, washing strung across from buildings - which it is, with locals still living there - Dubrovnik is like a b.eautiful empty shell, full of tourists and Game of Throne obsessors, hardly any locals living inside the city any more - much more profitable to rent your house out.
Saw this sign in the Diocletian Palace this morning in Split - clearly had enough of the badly behaved youths from the Sail Croatia weeks. Dubrovnik talked of banning them. Wonder if they have taken this approach too?
And these last ones are just wandering around Makarska. Prettiness. A special place.
And that's that from Makarska until next year.
